Subway Surprise!!!

Well, last night we decided we wanted to go for a drive up to Avon and see the leaves. We grabbed a Subway foot long to split for dinner and headed up the pass. We did, however, get more than we bargained for. The subway guy left a little something behind, wrapped with our sub for us to find. I'm sure he just got busy and didn't see it when he wrapped up our dinner, but HOLY CRUD, I sure noticed to knife he forgot about. Ya, that's right, there was a knife wrapped up in our Subway sandwich. It wasn't a huge knife, but a knife is a knife man. Too bad we were all ready on the road again when we noticed it. Well, anyway we kept it and now have a cool knife to add to our camping supplies. I'll be showing it off next bow hunt. Hey, its better than any of the knifes I had previously. I took pictures, but it was with an old disposable camera I was trying to use up so I could get it developed. Anyway, I'll post pics later. We probably should have taken it back so we could get free subs for life, or reached a settlement and paid our truck off, either one would have worked:) So to all you Subway fans out there, don't forget to check your subs. The guy making it might just leave you a little something.

What's Happening

I have decided that I officially hate chemistry. My class is five freaking credit hours and all online. I've gotten all A's and a few B's on my assignments, yet I somehow manage to always achieve a C on my exams. If I have to calculate one more stupid molecular equation, someone might die.
Well anyway, now that that's out of the way everything is going great with us. I haven't taken any pics since the bowhunt because I broke my camera so I really don't have any new one's to post. Alex and I both have new church callings. Alex got called to be the first counselor in the Elder's Quorum, and I an now a nursery worker. Luke is excelling in his calling in the nursery and by far eats the most gold fish crackers during snack time.
I absolutely love Halloween. Alex on the other hand could care less, so I'm glad that Liz (my sister-in-law who lives with us) is also a Halloween freak and I now have a pumpkin carving buddy. We're also really excited about all the new little babies in the family.

Time? What the heck it that?

I finally got my "hunt" pics up. Sorry its been so long, but life has got crazy. Al and I are both doing full time school now, plus I have been trying to catch up with the garden, so any extra time I have I'm busy canning all day. Now that we have somewhat of a routine down, I won't be ignoring the blogging like I have been.

Bow Hunt 2008

Excellent!!!

I finished "Breaking Dawn" on Tuesday and I loved it. I thought it was an excellent ending to the series. I'm way stoked for "Midnight Sun" to come out, but Meyer isn't even done writing it yet so I'm sure we'll have to wait an eternity for that one. Al has no desire to attend an awesome screening of Twilight with me, (he is so weird), I think he's sick of hearing about it. I'll keep working on him though.

Jolly Green Giant

Luke really is the weirdest kid sometimes. He absolutely loves veggies. I have been picking some peppers and tomatoes from the garden and he'll find them and eat them when I'm not looking. I guess it's a good thing that he likes them. Maybe I won't have to force him to eat them later. This is a pic I took of Luke after I found him eating this bell pepper. He had managed to climb up on the counter by himself and grab it.

Happy Anniversary

Alex and I just celebrated our third wedding anniversary. We were married in the Logan Temple on July 30, 2005. That was the happiest day of my life. I remember being so nervous that morning and then after we left the temple, we were both like "oh my heck, I just got married". But I love being married and we have so much fun together. I still can't believe Alex wanted to marry the world's biggest nerd. I never really asked him why because I was afraid he'd wake up and realize what he was about to do. I love being married to the world's greatest guy and I can't wait to see what other adventures are coming our way. I love ya babe!!!

Road Trip 2008

T.P Update

Well, turns out it wasn't Nick and his buddies who toilet papered us. It was the 2nd councilor in our bishopric, Ron and his wife Andrea and their four kids. They made it a family home evening activity last night, and hit a couple houses in the neighborhood. I think that's pretty funny.

Horrible Act!!!

Sometime last night, our very own yard was sabotaged by evil doers. The most heinous act a person could commit on a home. Ya, that's right, we were toilet papered. Luke was furious when he saw the streaming strands draped around his swing set. No, just kidding, Luke thought it was an improvement. I am now creating my list of possible culprits. It could be many people, but I have a select few in mind. Nick Heslop, if you know anything about this come forward now and I may decide to grant you pardon. Oh, and bring a treat for Luke and I:)

Happy Birthday Grandma Lorrie

Grandma Lorrie just turned 80. Grandpa and all his girls threw a party for her at their house in Orem. It was great to visit with everyone and get reacquainted. Aunt Carla came from Idaho and brought Cameron and Connie's kids with her. They have gotten so big. And aunt Sharon and her family came up from Mesa. We even got to see Uncle Kelly, who I haven't seen in about 12 years. He breeds chihuahuas and brought all his puppies with him in his camper. Carmen had a really cool idea with the cake. All the kids (Carmen, Mom, Carla, Sharon) brought a cake with them, any flavor they wanted. When they got to the party, they stacked the layers of cake and frosted it. It thought it was a cool way to get everyone involved. Jac and Mel were there also and their kids had a blast meeting and playing with Dante, Whitman, and Emerson (Cameron and Connie's kids). I was busy keeping Luke out of trouble, as always. But it was great to get together and celebrate.

The day of the party also happened to be Grandpa and Grandma Lorrie's 20th wedding anniversary. He had made for her a necklace with two hearts hanging on it. One heart had all the birth stones of Carmen and her kids on it. The other heart had mom's, Carla's, Sharon's, and Kelly's birth stones. She loved it. Grandpa is a pretty suave guy.

Grandma Lorrie is pretty special to me. Even though she's not my real Grandma, I've never felt that she loved us any less than her real grandchildren. I know quite a few people who don't have that kind of relationship with thier step-grandmas.

Living off the Land

This is our very first garden. It's hard to tell how big it really is from the picture. I think we got a bit carried away. We have a lot of work with a garden that consists of seven rows, which are 30 yards long. I wanted to really get into the whole canning and storage thing, but I may have more food than time when everything is ripe. Our garden contains: sting beans, carrots, spinach, beets, peas (which we planted too late and are starting to die :(, radishes, three kinds of peppers(bell, jalapeno, anaheim), pumpkins, spaghetti squash, and 36 tomato plants. We are already enjoying the radishes. Neither Alex nor I like spinach (why we planted it I have no idea, ask Al) but Pecos, our horse, is really enjoying it. It takes about 2 hours to water the whole thing. But its been fun planting and watching everything grow. If you look on the row farthest left, you'll see that nothing is growing there. That's where we planted a whole row of cantaloupe and watermelon, but none ever came up. Guess we still have a lot to learn about planting.
All of this information about our garden helps me bring up a very important topic. If, later this fall, anyone happens to find themselves extremely bored, and your fingers are just itching to peel, and preserve veggies, you be sure and let me know. :)

Hiking Ogden

We have really gotten into the hiking scene lately. A couple of weeks ago we decided to go hiking at the last minute. We rushed out and bought Luke a pack so he could travel in style then hit the trails. We really enjoy doing this as a family and we have a different hike planned for every week. Here's a few of our pics.

Here we are at the top of Waterfall Canyon. I had never seen it so it was great to finally do this hike. Alex and I really enjoyed the mist, but Luke wasn't that crazy about it.

It was a hot, difficult hike. That didn't keep Luke from investigating the local dirt however. Here's Luke taking a nice cool drink from the camel pack.

Well, it's great to finally get my blog going. I know what I want my blog to look like in my head, but I have no idea how to get it that way on the screen yet. This is a huge learning experience. Bear with me.
